Fearless: John the Revelator
John was fearless in his life for three reasons
He Was "the disciple whom Jesus loved"
He Was nicknamed "the sons of thunder" by Jesus
Was a writer of the gospel of John, the three epistles of John and the book of Revelation
Was persecuted and was sentenced to death by boiling and survived, and it was said by Tertullian that the entire coliseum was converted because of the event, and then was convicted to the prison island of Patmos where he wrote Revelation
1. He lived with and loved Jesus
John referred to himself "as the disciple that Jesus loved"
We cant "Live" with Jesus anymore physically but how can we live or abide as John calls it today?
Devotions
Prayer
Fellowship with his body
Serving Him
Fasting
Spiritual disciplines (meditation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, solitude, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance, celebration)
Reading about him
Discussing Him
Meditating
2. He was responsible for Mary
Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into his own household. (John 19:27 NASB)
What are your responsibilities? Why are they important?
Student
Son/daughter
Athlete
Friend
Brother/sister
3. He was brave enough to write down what God revealed to him
Gospel of John: Jesus IS everything!
1,2,3 John: God IS Love!
Revelation: God IS Judge!
Illustration: are you brave enough to write down (Facebook and twitter) what God has taught you and showed you even when it is not popular? The point is John told people what God revealed to him will you also tell people what God is revealing to you?
